Drug addiction among today’s youth is a serious concern.  Drug addiction is a gift of the western civilization. The chief cause of it may be the deep frustration among the youth regarding their high expectations from life. The unhappy youth look for some indirect ways to cope with the hardships of life. It takes him directly to drug addiction. The other factors that attract the youth towards drug addiction are the effects of peer groups, broken families, and unemployment. In the beginning, it starts only for the sake of pleasure. But soon they get used to it. Drug addiction leads to a complete decay of man, physically and spiritually. He becomes a parasite and a criminal. Many bright young men are ruined by drug abuse every year. The government and other voluntary organizations should work hand in hand. They should root out this abuse among the youth of India.
